TREATMENT RANGES

These three types of refractive error can now be easily treated with corrective laser eye procedures called LASIK and PRK.

LASIK and PRK have been shown to be effective for a wide range of myopia. The treatment by LASIK is suitable for levels of up to -10 dioptres. For those with higher prescriptions over -10 dioptres, treatment can still improve their eyesight to some extent or other options are available such as BIOPTICS or PHAKIC INTRAOCULAR LENSES. Long-sight can also be treated with laser treatment. Treatment is most successful for prescriptions up to +3 dioptres. Higher prescriptions above +4 dioptres can be treated by PRELEX or PHAKIC INTRAOCULAR LENSES. Laser procedures can also treat astigmatism but is usually combined with treatment for hyperopia or myopia.
